Ok, we have some news for you. Not really good news, but hey, life goes on.

Some Important News
So, this post took a bit more time than I’ve expected. Sometimes it’s just difficult to gather all the things you need to say, and plus, I had a very little time lately.
The news is rather simple. Urustar is closing. We started the process last december, after a long and quite sad team meeting. After having our project (codenamed Betelgeuse – later renamed Y.M.I.) rejected by the Creative Europe program, we found ourselves quite worn up and with no idea about how to do next. Contract work has plummeted during the last 18 months. We’ve just had some Skype calls with clients that never showed up again (and made us waste a lot of time in making concept documents for free). Plus, keeping a company alive here in Italy is something that costs a lot of money, even if you don’t earn anything, and our personal finances were becoming thinner and thinner.
We also understood that we’ve been quite worn out on a personal level, and as a team we didn’t have the energy, the motivation and the positivity to go on and do something awesome. Betelgeuse project appeared to us too broad and difficult to develop to an even minimum presentable stage, with no funding at all.
Right now we are managing all the paperwork and stuff we need to effectively close the company (yes, even this is not easy here) and we’ve started moving on with our lives. Some of us will keep making games, some others won’t, but we’re off to a new start. And in some ways, that’s what we needed.
In the end we would like to thank all the incredibly awesome people that helped us during these four and a half years, all the fellow game makers we have met, all the new friends we’ve got while making games. Having met so much talented and interesting people is one of the best thing that happened to us. Let’s keep in touch!
(I always kinda dreamed to be able to write this last line…)
So long, and thanks for all the fish.
